คำนมัสการพระรัตนตรัย kam ná-mát-sà-gaan prá-rát-dtà-ná-dtrai Homage to the Triple Gem Chanted at the opening of a service after the offering; this is the printing that carries a Thai translation. page 194 6 verses

The threefold salutation to the Triple Gem in the translated printing, each line followed by a bow.

When chanted
Chanted at the opening of a service after the offering; this is the printing that carries a Thai translation.

A note on this chant. The book prints this chant in Pali only, with no Thai translation. The English here is a working translation prepared for this edition — it is not the book's own, and has not yet been checked by a teacher.

Historical background

The second chant of the translated half, matching the salutation printed at page 1. The rubric telling the assembly to bow together appears here as it does there.

Like its counterpart, this printing carries the mark on ส๎วากขาโต where the page-1 printing does not — one of the small differences between the two passes.

Meaning and purpose

The three lines work as they do everywhere: a statement about one of the Three Jewels in the third person, then a first-person act of homage, then a prostration made by everybody at once.

The three verbs remain distinct in the Pali — to salute, to pay homage, to bow — and the Thai keeps them distinct too, which a looser rendering could easily have flattened.

For somebody learning, this is the chant where the Thai layer earns its place. The English of all three lines looks nearly identical; the Thai shows that the tradition does not treat them as the same act.
