🚀 Getting started in 3 steps

1. Pick a starting point. Use the Learn menu — Tones & Consonant Classes and Paiboon romanization are good places to begin.
2. Explore a topic. Use the Learn menu for vocabulary, grammar, lessons and more — or dip into Culture and Buddhism.
3. Ask the AI tutor. Stuck on anything? The AI Tutor can explain, give hints, and answer questions in plain English.

🔊 Learn tones early — it really matters

Thai is a tonal language: the same syllable said with a different tone becomes a completely different word (มา “come” vs หมา “dog”). If you learn tones from the very beginning, correct pronunciation becomes a habit — leave them until later and they're much harder to un-learn.

The good news: tones aren't guesswork — they follow clear rules based on consonant class. Our Tones & Consonant Classes section teaches the whole system with practice drills.

🧡 Monk Mode (for monastics)

Monk Mode is a free track for monks and nuns — written for Thai monastics learning English and Western monastics learning Thai. When it's on, every lesson is unlocked at no cost. 🙏

• It starts switched off. Everyone begins with Monk Mode off — it's only ever on if you turn it on yourself.
• To turn it on, open Monk Mode in the menu and enter the access code shared by your temple or teacher.
• To turn it off, click the "🧡 Monk Mode: ON" button in the top menu at any time — no code needed.

♿ Learning Support (easier reading & read aloud)

♿ Learning Support in the top menu is for learners with dyslexia, ADHD, autism, low vision or visual stress — and anyone who finds long stretches of English tiring. Switch on only what helps you; everything is saved on your own device and never sent to us.

• Easy-to-read font — swaps in Atkinson Hyperlegible, a font designed so similar letters can't be mistaken for each other.
• Bigger text — scales the whole site up.
• Extra letter & line spacing — gives words room to breathe, which many dyslexic readers find easier to follow.

🔊 How to use Read aloud

Read aloud uses your browser's own voice to speak the English text — Thai keeps its own recorded audio buttons. You choose what gets read using the "what should I read?" dropdown, so you're never stuck listening to a whole page:

1. The whole page — press 🔊 Read aloud and it reads the page from the top.
2. A part I click on — press 🔊 Read aloud, then click any paragraph or heading on the page. It highlights as you point at it, and only that part is read. Press Esc to cancel.
3. Text I have highlighted — highlight the text you want with your mouse first, then press 🔊 Read aloud.

Press the button again at any time to stop — it changes to ⏹ Stop reading while it's speaking. The line underneath the button always tells you what to do next, and Turn all off clears every setting and silences the voice.

💡 Handy tips

• Zoom freely. The pages adjust to your browser zoom (anywhere from 25% to 500%) — tables fill the space when there's room and scroll sideways when there isn't, so nothing gets cut off.
• Use the side menu. On learning pages, the menu on the left stays in view as you scroll, so you can jump between topics easily.
• Some sections are locked. Reach the required level (and, for some areas, subscribe) to open everything up.

🧭 How the pages are laid out

ThaiBridge AI doesn't force one layout on every page. Instead, each page uses the shape that fits its job — which is why a reading page looks different from a tool or a short info page. There are four:
